YouTube Video Downloader
Turn a public YouTube link into a file you’re permitted to keep. See the formats the video actually offers, then choose the one that fits.
- Public videos & Shorts
- No account needed
- Temporary, private download links
Only download content you own or have permission to save. Restricted and active live videos aren’t supported.
From link to file in three steps
Add your link
Copy the Share link from a public YouTube video or Short and paste it above.
Choose an available format
Check the resolution, container and audio label. Some formats need separate video and audio streams to be combined.
Save the finished file
Wait for the ready message, then choose Save file. Keep the page open while the job runs.
Supported links, formats and limits
Use youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID, youtu.be/VIDEO_ID or youtube.com/shorts/VIDEO_ID. If a watch link includes a playlist, only the selected video is processed. Channel pages, playlist-only links and active livestreams aren’t supported.
MP4 is offered when compatible streams are available; other supported choices may use WebM. The actual container is kept. A WebM file is never relabeled as MP4, and video is never upscaled.
This server accepts videos up to 30 minutes, caps the output at 500 MiB, and offers at most 1080p when the source supports it. File links expire 30 minutes after the file becomes ready. Capacity limits may temporarily delay or prevent a job.
Sizes marked estimated can change after download and merging. A format with no reported size can still exceed the limit; that job will stop instead of producing an oversized file.
What EmberSave does
Choices from the source
Available formats come from the video, so you won’t be offered a resolution that was never uploaded or is unavailable to the server.
Audio that is clearly labeled
Choose a format with audio. Compatible separate streams are combined into one file when needed.
A visible job status
Analysis, queueing, downloading and merging have distinct statuses. Percentages appear only when the worker can measure progress.
A focused workflow
No account or browser extension is required. Download links are temporary and checked against your session.
Use the browser you already have
On desktop
Copy the video’s Share link, choose a format, and save the finished file. Your browser’s Downloads list shows its location.
On Android
Copy the link from YouTube’s Share menu and open EmberSave in your browser. Check the browser’s Downloads list or your device’s Files app after saving.
On iPhone or iPad
Open EmberSave in Safari or another supported browser. A saved download is generally available through the browser’s download list and the Files app; its folder depends on your browser settings.
If something gets in the way
The link is rejected
Open the video itself and copy its Share link. A channel address or a playlist without a video ID won’t work.
The source won’t allow access
Private, paid, age-gated and other restricted videos aren’t part of this service. Public videos can also be temporarily unavailable to the server. Try later or ask the creator for an authorized copy.
A resolution is missing
The source may not provide it, processing may still be underway, or this server’s limits may exclude it. Choose one of the listed qualities.
The queue is full or the file expired
Wait before submitting another request. For an expired file, submit the video link again; old download links cannot be renewed.
A few useful answers
Can I download a YouTube Short?
Yes, a public Short uses the same workflow. Paste its /shorts/ link, review the available formats and save the finished file.
Does every video have an MP4 option?
No. MP4 appears only when the source provides streams the backend can place in an MP4 container. The available list is specific to each video.
Can I save a whole playlist?
No. A link containing a selected video processes that video only. Playlist-only URLs are rejected.
Is a displayed file size exact?
Only source-reported sizes are shown as known values. Estimated sizes are labeled, and merging overhead can change the final size.
Do I need an account?
No. Keep the browser session that created the job; its temporary download link isn’t intended to be shared.
What content am I allowed to save?
Use the tool only when you own the content or have the permission needed to download it. A video being public does not by itself grant that permission.
